the i3 - ibl team
Funded through an Investing in Innovations (i3) grant, the i3 - IBL (Inquiry-Based Learning) team consists of eight PMHS teacher leaders who meet regularly to develop ideas, tools, and skills that support the implementation of IBL classroom strategies, cooperative learning techniques and authentic assessment practices. Now in its second year, the group is co-facilitated by Arnold Clayton of the Center for Secondary School Reform (CSSR), and David Stephen, of New Vista Designs for 21st Century Learning. With regard to the development of student projects, the i3 - IBL Team is spending the 2012-2013 school year focusing on the following:
- Developing skills, practices, and a common language for the structuring, assessment, and exhibition of rigorous and content-rich student projects.
- Developing the capacity of an inquiry- and project-based learning (IBL) Leadership Team, that is well-equipped to train and support their colleagues in the creation of successful projects.
- Creating customized (in-hand and online) curricula and project planning materials and resources that give definition and cohesion to PMHS’s IBL approach.
- The training of PMHS faculty by i3 - IBL team members in the development of an inquiry- and project-based culture of teaching and learning.
